Case 1
Defective amalgam replaced in mandibular
right second premolar

Case description
This case replaces an old amalgam with an indirect composite inlay in a mandibular right second
premolar. Figure 1 shows the pre operative tooth exhibiting an amalgam with marginal breakdown,
exposing dentin. The patient reports sensitivity to biting and sweets and desires an esthetic
restoration. An indirect composite inlay is decided upon.

A custom occlusal matrix will be utilized to reform the occlusal anatomy in the indirect composite inlay.
